Embracing Islam Despite Challenges

Sister Apulayiya embraced Islam three months ago after a group of outreach specialists visited her village and conducted dawah classes. During these lessons, she learned about the purpose of life and why Allah created human beings. After understanding these teachings, she decided to accept Islam and took her Shahadah.

However, embracing her new faith brought challenges. Since she was married and her family was Christian, her husband was not happy with her decision to become a Muslim. He viewed her conversion negatively and even threatened to end their marriage. Sister Apulayiya tried to explain to him that Islam is a religion of peace and goodness, but he remained firm in his opposition. He told her that he could not allow her to be a Muslim and that if she continued practicing Islam, he would leave her.

Concerned about the situation, Sister Apulayiya informed the outreach team that her husband wanted to divorce her because of her decision to embrace Islam. The outreach specialists then visited their home and spoke with her husband. They explained the teachings of Islam and how the religion encourages people to have good character, respect others, and live righteous lives. They encouraged him to observe the positive changes in his wife’s behavior since becoming a Muslim.

After listening carefully to their explanation, her husband understood their message. He realized that Islam teaches good values and that his wife had the right to choose her faith. In the end, he accepted her decision and said that she was free to remain a Muslim, as it was her personal choice.
