Lackson Maulusa welcomed an iERA dawah team when they visited his village to ask for permission to conduct dawah classes. He gladly granted them permission and later decided to attend the classes himself. As he listened to the lessons, he became interested in learning more about Islam and was eager to understand its teachings.
One of the lessons that touched Lackson’s heart was about Muslim prayer. He observed that Muslims worship Allah alone and always put God first in their prayers. The outreach specialist explained that Muslims do not pray to Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) because he is a prophet of God, not the Son of God or God Himself. This was a new understanding for Lackson and answered many of the questions he had about Islam.
Before attending the dawah classes, Lackson believed that Muslims worshipped evil spirits. However, as the outreach specialist patiently explained the beliefs of Islam, he realized that these were only misconceptions he had heard and not the true teachings of Islam. The clear explanations opened his heart and changed his understanding.
Convinced by what he had learned, Lackson decided to embrace Islam and took his Shahadah. He was grateful that the dawah classes had given him the opportunity to learn the truth about Islam and replace his misconceptions with knowledge and understanding.
