Salim: His Journey to iERA and beyond

Salim Francis Mumba is a 26 years old Zambian, born in Nakonde into a Christian family. He completed his Primary and Secondary 2014.

He became a Muslim in 2015 and joined Nurul-Hudah Islamic center in Sumbawanga, Tanzania took a two year da’wah course with a certificate in comparative lessons, he is currently the Outreach Specialist in Lusaka.
He likes to read and play football.

He is very kind and gentle in his appearance and likes to mingle with people who are knowledgeable so that he could benefit highly from them. He’s very attentive when studying and therefore, he picks up new information at a usually quick pace.
He joined IERA because his background was not a family that was bent on studying in-depth about religion. He therefore saw an opportunity to search for the truth when he found iERA’s Prophetic mission through the organization which has done wonders in bringing thousands of people to Islam.

When he was asked about the secret to success at iERA, he pointed that sincerity and the fear of Allah has been Fear of Allah is the most important key in his life as it leads him to work much harder. He also added that strictly follows the iERA code of conducts.
His humble advice to is fellow Duats is that, fearing Allah and being sincere with patience is the key to any achievement, for this reason, no matter what they counter in this prophetic mission and in their daily routines, they should always rely on Allah and to be honest.

He added, ‘we need to feel pain for our brothers and sisters who are outside Islam when calling them to Islam because the punishment of hell is real and no one can bear the punishment, they are also souls that need guidance just as we need guidance to save from hell’.

According to him, teaching New Muslims to learn practical works like being an electrician and construction works will help in his communities in Zambia.
One of the biggest challenge that Zambia face is how to handle new Muslims after they have taken their Shahadah and the families of these new Muslims refuse to accept them.
It is a general problem that almost every African country face. You may not have the means to support the new Muslim nor can you reject him or her and therefore it creates the impression that Islam is not supportive of new Muslims.
On his free times, Salim engages in farming.
His greatest challenge is traveling long distances to call people to Islam. Mobility in closer areas to his home will go a long way to make his work easier.
