This story is about a young lady who chose to be a Muslim regardless of all her family members being against it.
It was on a Sunday afternoon when the lady was coming back from her church service. Along the way we came across her while we were in the field doing our usual street dawah. We approached her and then initiated a conversation with her.
As usual we told her about the existence of Allah, his oneness and the need to believe in his revelation and prophets he had been sending from Adam till the last prophet Muhammad ( peace be upon them all). The lady took no time in believing in the massage and later on accepting Islam. This is because even though she used to be Christians she confessed to being an admirer of Islam.
All she ever wished for was to have a conversation with a Muslim so that she could know more about Islam. Hence, when she met with us it was to her advantage. She asked a few questions about Islam and alhamdulillah we gave her answers that she was satisfied with. However, the challenge was for her to convince her family members on her decision of becoming Muslim.
Just as expected it was met with resistance. Nevertheless, she kept on trying and she almost lost hope as to whether they would ever accept her new identity. In the midst of all this she still kept coming to madrasa. So when she explain about her situation we decided to intercede on her behalf to her parents.
That’s how we immediately after class went with her to her place. We met with her parents and they welcomed us warmly. Then we told them why we had visited them. The conversation started. They explained their view of things and why they thought it was necessary for their child not to be Muslim.
However, from their explanation all we could conclude was that they had little knowledge about Islam. Then we took the opportunity to explain to them what Islam is. We used our GORAP method and in the end they understood there was no danger in their daughter becoming Muslim and in addition to this they also showed interest in learning more about Islam and maybe in future after understanding it in all angles they may become Muslims as well.
Alhamdulillah the lady is now a full time Muslim and still learning her new religion. May Allah make it easy for her.
