Henry’s journey began in his childhood when he was introduced to Christianity by his grandmother.
She would tell him stories from the Bible, instilling in him a sense of wonder about God and spirituality.
As he grew older, he attended different churches like Baptist, Pentecostal, Anglican, however each offering unique perspectives on faith.
Despite the warmth and community he found within these congregations, there remained an unquenchable thirst for deeper understanding.
One day, while walking through the market in Lusaka, Henry encountered a group of individuals from iERA who were engaged in conversations about Islam and its teachings.
Intrigued by their friendly demeanor and respectful dialogue, Henry approached them.
The representatives welcomed him warmly and invited him to learn more about their faith.
As they sat, they began to explain the core beliefs of Islam, Tauheed , the importance of prayer (Salah), charity Zakaat, fasting during Ramadan (Sawm), and pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj).
They spoke passionately about how Islam emphasizes compassion, justice, and community service. Henry listened intently as they shared stories from the Quran that resonated with his own experiences.
“What you describe is so unique,” Henry remarked thoughtfully after hearing their explanations. “It seems to address many questions I have pondered over in my life.” He felt an overwhelming sense of peace wash over him as he contemplated their words.
The representatives encouraged him to ask questions and without hesitation, they answered each inquiry with patience and clarity, dispelling misconceptions that had lingered in his mind.
As days turned into weeks, Henry found himself drawn closer to Islam’s teachings. He began reading books on Islamic theology and history while continuing discussions with his new friends from iERA.
One fateful afternoon, Henry made a decision that would change his life forever.
With sincerity in his heart and conviction in his voice, he recited the Shahadah.
Henry’s story became a beacon of hope for those seeking truth beyond boundaries set by tradition or societal norms.
As time passed, Henry reflected on how far he had come—from a seeker wandering through various churches to finding solace within Islam’s embrace. He often thought back to those initial conversations, the pivotal moments that led him toward embracing a faith that resonated deeply within his soul.
His journey serves as an encouragement for those supporting organizations like iERA—reminding them how impactful their efforts can be in guiding individuals toward understanding diverse beliefs while fostering unity among humanity.
