In the heart of Tanzania’s Southern Highlands, a powerful story of transformation is quietly unfolding—one that speaks to the potential of a single individual to uplift an entire community.
This story begins in Mbeya, where a young man, once a new Muslim searching for direction, is now walking the path of leadership and guidance, thanks to iERA Tanzania’s groundbreaking New Muslim Du’āt Program.
This program, launched over four years ago, is a visionary initiative designed to nurture newly converted Muslims into confident, knowledgeable, and active ambassadors of Islam. It offers more than just theoretical knowledge; it provides practical tools, mentorship, and community-focused training. The aim is to raise a generation of du’āt—Islamic callers—who are deeply rooted in authentic teachings and are equipped to educate, inspire, and lead with wisdom and compassion.
Among the first to benefit from this initiative was a young man who took the name Abuu Hamza during his studies. From the beginning, he showed immense dedication and thirst for knowledge. His transformation from student to mentor was swift and sincere. Upon graduating from the program, Abuu Hamza returned to his village—not for recognition or reward, but to fulfill a higher calling.
With passion in his heart and Qur’an on his tongue, he began reaching out to the youth in his community, sharing the beauty of Islam and offering guidance rooted in love and understanding. His example quickly made an impact. The spiritual atmosphere began to shift. Youth who were once disengaged started showing interest in learning about their faith. Some began praying regularly, while others began asking deeper questions about Islam and its teachings.
It was during one of these outreach efforts that Abuu Hamza encountered a young man who was deeply moved by his character and message. This young man, inspired by Abuu Hamza’s journey and conviction, expressed a strong desire to walk the same path. Encouraged and mentored by Abuu Hamza, he enrolled in the New Muslim Du’āt Program himself—determined to one day return to his own village to lead prayers, teach, and guide others just as he had been guided.
This cycle of mentorship and transformation lies at the heart of iERA Tanzania’s mission. The New Muslim Du’āt Program is not just producing students—it is building leaders. It’s creating a ripple effect where each graduate becomes a beacon of light in their community, illuminating the path for others.
Through initiatives like this, iERA is sowing the seeds of long-term, sustainable da’wah across Tanzania. What begins with a single life touched by knowledge and guidance becomes a legacy that echoes through generations.
In the quiet villages of the Southern Highlands, the future of Islam is being shaped—not by grand speeches or large events, but by sincere hearts, dedicated teachers, and the unbreakable bond between those who learn and those who lead.
