Carrying the light: A new generation of Du’āt rises in Uganda

A new chapter in the story of Islamic outreach has begun in Uganda, as twelve newly trained Du’āt officially begin their mission with iERA Uganda this month.

Filled with purpose, equipped with knowledge, and grounded in sincerity, these dedicated individuals are now set to carry the message of Islam to the remote villages and communities across the country.

Their journey follows an intensive training program, designed to instill not just the theoretical framework of da’wah, but the prophetic character required to embody it.

The sessions were marked by enthusiasm, deep learning, and a shared spirit of devotion. Each of these new Du’āt emerged with a renewed sense of responsibility—to share, to serve, and to inspire.

In a send-off that was both heartfelt and purposeful, the iERA Uganda office team gathered to offer their final words of guidance. Brother Muhammad, Country Manager of iERA Uganda, and Brother Arshad, Regional Manager for Uganda and Rwanda, led the address. Their message was clear and deeply rooted in the prophetic tradition.

Brother Muhammad emphasized transparency and integrity, urging the Du’āt to let the light of truth shine in both word and deed. “You are the face of Islam to many of these people,” he reminded them. “Your sincerity, humility, and honesty will be the bridge that opens hearts.”

Building on this, Brother Arshad encouraged the Du’āt to remain attentive and reflective, recalling the lessons from their training and applying them with wisdom.

He reminded them that da’wah is not about winning arguments, but about touching hearts, and that this often requires tremendous patience and resilience.

“Challenges will come,” he said, “but so will the rewards—both in this world and the next. Stay firm, stay kind, and know that you are part of something far greater than yourselves.”

The leaders concluded by reminding the Du’āt that their mission is twofold: to invite others to Islam and to support them in their spiritual growth. It is not just about conveying information, but nurturing souls—walking alongside new Muslims as they begin their journey of faith.

With that, the Du’āt were officially commissioned. As they now step into villages across Uganda, they carry with them not just copies of the Qur’an or talking points—but the character of the Prophet ﷺ, the wisdom of their teachers, and the prayers of a global community rooting for their success.

May Allah guide their steps, open hearts to their message, and reward their sacrifices in this world and the next. Ameen.
