Deusi, a 22-year-old from the village of Ihayabuyaga, was born into a non-Muslim family but always felt drawn to Islam. From a young age, he admired the discipline, respect, and peaceful demeanor of the Muslim youth around him. Whenever he saw them walking to the mosque or greeting each other politely, he felt a sense of calm he couldn’t explain.
Though he didn’t fully understand the faith, he began wearing Islamic symbols like a cap and a clean white robe. He did this simply because it made him feel peaceful inside. Over the years, his curiosity deepened, but he never had the chance to learn more until one day, while at the market, he met a group of teachers from iERA Tanzania.
Excited, he approached them with many questions about Islam. One of the teachers asked gently, “Young man, are you a Muslim?” He smiled shyly and replied, “No but I love Islam.” His words touched their hearts.

They explained the meaning of Islam a faith of peace, humility, and submission to the One Creator. Moved to tears, he said, “Today, I’ve found the answer I’ve been searching for. I’m ready to be a Muslim.”
He then declared the Shahada with confidence and sincerity. Afterward, his face glowed with joy. Hugging the teachers, he said, “Now I understand the peace I always felt.” Today, he is learning the Qur’an and Islamic teachings. He believes that Allah has guided him and that his journey has only just begun.
