Finding Common Ground: A Discussion on Worship

Have you ever had a conversation about faith that surprised you in the best way possible? Well!!….Interfaith dialogue is an important way to promote understanding and respect between different religions. This blog post highlights a recent conversation on a radio program that exemplifies the power of such discussions.

A local religious leader, who regularly hosted his own program on Modern F.M. Radio, found himself drawn to iERA program in Zambia. After some initial conversations, we agreed to collaborate on a joint discussion focused on a theme both faiths could explore: “The Right Manner of Worship.”

The discussion aired live on a Friday evening, a time convenient for both our audiences. We were fortunate to have a very open-minded guest who readily acknowledged points aligned with his own beliefs. When we presented verses from the Quran (22:77 and 48:29) alongside passages from his own scripture, he openly acknowledged their similarities, stating, “I credit your accuracy in quoting.”

The atmosphere in the studio remained positive and friendly throughout. The lively discussion, facilitated by our moderator, even included moments of lightheartedness where we could share a celebratory hand gesture. It was truly a rewarding experience, and our guest expressed his interest in future collaborations on other topics.

This experience demonstrates the value of interfaith dialogue. By focusing on common ground and mutual respect, we can foster understanding and build bridges between different communities.
