HOW A FARMER CAME TO EMBRACE ISLAM

During their door-to-door outreach, the DUATS were warmly received by a family, and their conversation regarding Islam which interested the neighboring widow, a farmer. Curiously, she approached and engaged in the discussion, raising several questions about various Islamic practices, such as the washing of the deceased, the wearing of the dress by men, prayer postures, and the concept of polygamy.

The DUATS responded to her inquiries with patience and careful consideration, providing relatable examples and scriptural references to clarify any misconceptions. When she was asked whether she would consider remarriage as a widow, she expressed her agreement, acknowledging the challenges of life. This led the DUATS to explain Islam’s allowance of marrying up to four wives, presenting it as a compassionate solution to societal needs, particularly in supporting widows. Deeply moved by their explanations and the principles of Islam, the widow embraced the faith by reciting her Shahada, converting from a non-Muslim to a Muslim in the course of a single conversation.
