How Da’wah Changed a life of a Notorious Trouble Maker.

In a small village in Malawi, Jackson Chidothi was known for all the wrong reasons. A notorious troublemaker, drunkard, drug addict, and thief, his presence brought unease and fear. He was a frequent visitor to the local police station, leaving many wondering if he would ever change his ways.

One day, a glimmer of hope arrived. He meet an Outreach specialists from iERA, (Islamic Education and Research Academy), during Dawah activity in the village. Initially skeptical, Jackson decided to attend their classes held in the afternoons. This decision left everyone speechless, including the worried villagers and even the iERA duat.

Undeterred by Jackson’s past, the duat took him under his wing, dedicating extra time and attention to his understanding of Islam. Week after week, Jackson absorbed the teachings, his hardened exterior slowly softening. Then came the moment that shocked everyone: Jackson stood before the class, declaring his newfound faith and taking his shahaadah, (declaration of faith in Islam).

News of Jackson’s conversion spread like wildfire, sparking disbelief and cautious hope. But the transformation was undeniable. The troublemaker vanished, replaced by a man dedicated to good deeds and piety. He became a role model, inspiring others to explore their own spiritual journeys.

Jackson’s story is a powerful testament to the transformative power of Islam and the impact of effective dawah. Today, he actively participates in the New Muslim Intensive Program and is even being considered for the New Muslim Imam Program, a testament to his dedication and eagerness to learn.
