Jamil Sebalu, a respected economist, journalist, and committed stakeholder of iERA, visited the iERA Uganda office, bringing with him a wealth of wisdom and motivation.
His arrival was met with anticipation, as the team looked forward to gaining insights from his experience and leadership.
Welcomed warmly by Country Manager Aisha, Sebalu expressed his admiration for the organization’s dedication to its mission. Rather than focusing on technical aspects of economics, he spoke about the human element—the passion and purpose that drive the team’s efforts.
He reminded them that their work was not just a duty but a calling, urging them to stay true to their purpose even in the face of challenges.
One of the key themes of Sebalu’s address was the value of time. He emphasized that time is a trust from Allah and must be used wisely.
Punctuality, he explained, is not just about following schedules but about respecting the opportunities given to them. This perspective deeply resonated with the team, reinforcing their discipline and commitment.
Sebalu also highlighted the necessity of financial discipline, not as an end in itself, but as a means to achieve their greater goal—spreading da’wah and making a positive impact in Uganda. Every resource, he stressed, must be utilized efficiently to further their mission.

Following his address, Aisha provided Sebalu with an update on iERA Uganda’s recent initiatives and achievements. He listened attentively, asking insightful questions and acknowledging their progress. His appreciation and encouragement further boosted the team’s confidence.
The discussion then shifted to the challenges of spreading da’wah in the modern world. Drawing from his experience in journalism, business, and education, Sebalu shared practical strategies for effective communication. He underscored the importance of understanding different audiences and tailoring messages to engage them effectively.
By the end of the visit, the iERA Uganda team felt revitalized. Sebalu’s words not only inspired them but also provided clarity on their mission and the path ahead.
His visit served as a powerful reminder of the significance of their work, strengthening their resolve to continue spreading Islamic teachings with dedication, discipline, and strategic thinking.
