It was a chance meeting with AY, a young man whose face was clouded with frustration and confusion.
His eyes, sharp and guarded, told a story of inner turmoil, as though he was carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.
When the approached him, his immediate reaction was one of resistance, anger simmered beneath his words, but as they gently began to speak to him, something shifted.
His defensiveness slowly melted away, like ice under the warmth of the sun.
The team asked him about life—about its purpose, its meaning and as the conversation unfolded, they shared with him the truth that had guided our own lives: that living according to the expectations of others is a path to emptiness.
The only true guide for life is the one given by the Creator, a manual from God to man—the Quran.
To make it clearer, the shared an analogy that seemed to resonate deeply with him. “Think about an appliance you buy,” a Da’ee said. “When you purchase it, you get a manual, right? A guide that tells you how to use it, how to care for it. Now, imagine you had no manual for life, no guidance on how to navigate its challenges. Wouldn’t that be frustrating? Wouldn’t you feel lost?”
The words struck him like a thunderclap, his eyes softened, and for a brief moment, a flicker of realization passed over his face.
It was as though the fog had cleared, and he could suddenly see the path in front of him. The analogy made sense. Life, without guidance, seemed utterly pointless.
The team spoke more about the necessity of understanding and following God’s path, the only way that leads to peace and fulfillment.
His posture relaxed, and a quiet conviction began to form within him, it was as if, for the first time in a long while, he was hearing the truth he had been searching for.
Without hesitation, they asked him if he was ready to embrace the truth and take his Shahada. To declare his belief in the Oneness of God and the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him).
For a moment, AY stood still, his eyes distant, as if weighing the gravity of the decision before him.
It could be seen, the struggle within him, the fear of change, the uncertainty of stepping into the unknown.
Finally, he spoke, his voice low but sincere: “Please, give me some time to think. This is… a big decision.”
The team respected his pause, this moment was pivotal, and they knew he needed space to reflect.
They exchanged contact details, promising to stay in touch and follow up with him over the next week.
As they parted ways, they both couldn’t help but feel a sense of hope mixed with longing.
AY was standing on the edge of something profound—something that could change the trajectory of his life forever.
The team prayed for him, that he would find the courage to take that final step, to embrace the peace that comes from walking in the path of truth.
The team knew that the seeds of change had been planted, all they could do now was wait, hope, and continue to pray for his guidance.
