From Silence to Shahada: The Journey of Aloysious to Bashar.

Aloysious was born into a devoted Catholic family, raised in a home where Sunday prayers, and the teachings of Christianity shaped his childhood. His parents were strict and unwavering in their beliefs. In their home, religion was not merely a tradition, it was an identity that could not be questioned.

From a young age, Aloysious learned that Islam was something to avoid. His parents spoke about it with anger and resentment, warning him to keep away from anything related to it. Their words were harsh, and their attitudes left little room for curiosity.

As Aloysious grew older, he occasionally encountered Muslims at school and in the community. He noticed their discipline in prayer and the calm certainty with which they spoke about God. Something about their devotion intrigued him. Though he never voiced it aloud, he began to admire aspects of their faith.

Still, fear held him back. He knew how his parents felt about Islam, and the thought of questioning their beliefs felt dangerous.

While walking through town, Aloysious encountered iERA duats, who were speaking to people about Islam. Their gentle tone and thoughtful explanations drew Aloysious closer. Curious but cautious, he paused to listen.

The duat spoke about how Islam teaches about the oneness of God, without partners, without intermediaries. He explained that all prophets, from Adam to Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them all), came with the same message: to worship God alone.

He imagined his parents’ reaction, the anger, the disappointment, perhaps even rejection. The thought overwhelmed him. Though his heart was moved by what he had heard, he could not bring himself to take the step that day.

For the next two days, Aloysious lived in deep reflection. The words he had heard echoed constantly in his mind: the oneness of God, the clarity of worship. He compared everything he had learned throughout his life with what he had heard that afternoon.

He realized that what he had heard resonated with his heart in a different way. With determination in his heart, Aloysious set out to find the duats again.

When he arrived and knocked on the door, the same gentle teacher greeted him with a warm smile.

“I have been thinking about what you told me,” he said. “I believe it is the truth. Please… guide me to Islam.”

The duats welcomed him and patiently explained the meaning of the Shahada. He took shahada and chose a new name Bashar to mark this new chapter of his life.

Though he knew the path ahead might not be easy, Bashar felt a deep sense of peace. The fear that once held him back had been replaced with faith.
