Malawi: Matanga the difference maker

Dhacrah Graphix Matanga is a 31-year-old Zambian. He hails from Chisupuli, Naisi, a village in the Zomba district.

Matanga is a teacher by profession and his hobbies involve giving Dawah, Martial Arts, Reading and Teaching.

He is a fast learner and adapts swiftly with situations as and when they come.

He is also friendly and vibrant among his colleagues.

He is also generous and assists people as much as he can in their day to day activities.

His decision to join the iERA team stems from his passion for Dawah and his good communication skills in spreading the good message of Islam in many difficult occasions.

According to him, what makes him stands out from the rest of his colleagues is his ability to read situations swiftly, his hard work and knowing his place within the organization.

The advice he has for his colleagues in iERA is aiming high and having passion on the work and developing skills through learning in different ways to enhance dawah skills.  Working hand in hand with teammates, respecting leaders whether Coordinator, District Head, Inspectors or whoever is in charge.

According to him, the skills a good Da’ee is supposed to possess is good communication skills and the ability to speak confidently when interacting with people.

He added thar ‘reading different oriented dawah books and teaching others to develop their skills as well will go a long way to help.’

While talking about his best case study he said ‘I once met a pastor in a certain village where we usually met for religious discussions, he had difficult questions and misconception to do with Islam. He even quoted verses from the bible but by Allah’s will and my patience, I managed to convince him and, in the end, he took Shahadah. He is one the outstanding and steadfast Muslim.

He further added ‘I once lived among non-Muslim dominated premises where by using water after using the washroom was something strange, I was the only Muslim using water. I was sarcastically asked whether I take tea while attending to nature’s call. I explained the importance of using water after visiting toilet.’

Matanga’s biggest challenge is the issue of transportation and the solution he has in mind is taking a bicycle loan from the iERA office to make his movement from one to place to another easier

The code of honor he considers his favorite is ‘never say die’, because whenever one puts much effort and never gives up, one will always prosper and successfully attain one’s goal in life with the help of Allah.
