Sthefy Alegre – 26 – Fernando Mora, Paraguay.
In the heart of Fernando de la Mora, Paraguay, Sthefy Alegre experienced a transformation that began in the shadows of the night. A student and then a temporary resident in Spain, she faced a phenomenon that would challenge her perception of reality: sleep paralysis, inexplicable noises, and the palpable feeling of an unwanted presence in her apartment. Sleepless nights became her routine, seeking solace in the Bible and prayers without finding relief.
The situation took an unexpected turn when, desperate for a solution, a friend shared her dilemma with a Muslim acquaintance. The recommendation was simple: listen to Surah Al Baqarah from the Quran. Skeptical but exhausted, Sthefy agreed, not knowing that night would mark the beginning of her journey to Islam. The effect was immediate and profound; she slept uninterrupted, an experience of peace she hadn’t known in weeks.
This rest not only provided her with physical relief but also awakened a curiosity about Islam, leading her to explore and ultimately embrace this faith. The Quran, initially a remedy for her sleepless nights, became the guide of her life. Converting to Islam, she says, was “the best thing that could happen,” a source of internal and familial struggle but also of peace and understanding.
Since that transformative experience, Sthefy has become a testament to the positive impact Islam can have on a person’s life. Her story is a powerful reminder of how faith can emerge from the darkest moments and how knowledge and openness can change lives.
For those on a similar path, her advice is clear: “Read. Islam gave me peace, taught me to be thankful, and to always ask Allah to listen to me. Alhamdulillah for Islam.”
