Alhamdulillah, while sharing the message of Islam in the beautiful city of Guadalajara, one simple interaction became a memorable dawah moment.
Our team met a cheerful woman dressed in traditional Mexican clothing as she promoted a local sweet. Smiling, she challenged one of the brothers to unwrap the candy without breaking it. Despite his best efforts, the sweet broke—bringing laughter to both of them.
The brother then offered a challenge of his own.
Instead of another game, he invited her to read a few verses from the Spanish translation of the Qur’an. She gladly accepted and began reading the opening verses of Surah Maryam (Chapter 19), which recount the heartfelt supplication of Prophet Zakariyyah (peace be upon him).
After she finished reading, the conversation naturally turned to the place of Jesus and Mary in Islam. She was surprised to learn that Muslims deeply love and honour both of them. It was explained that while Muslims believe Jesus (peace be upon him) was one of Allah’s greatest messengers and that Mary (peace be upon her) was among the most righteous women, they worship Allah alone, believing that both Jesus and Mary were His noble creations.
She listened attentively and accepted the Qur’an as a gift with appreciation.
Moments like these remind us that sincere conversations often begin with the simplest interactions. Alhamdulillah, the warmth, curiosity, and openness of the Mexican people continue to create beautiful opportunities to share the message of Islam. May Allah guide her through the Qur’an and open her heart to the truth. Ameen.
