Malawi: Lead to lead others

Raised in a Christian household with roots in Islam, Meshack had quite a lot of unanswered questions about his faith from an early age.

His inquiries into fundamental Christian beliefs, including the nature of Jesus and the diversity of religions, remained unresolved within his religious community. However, his encounter with iERA duats in his village provided Meshack with the clarity he sought.

His encounter with iERA duats served as a turning point in Meshack’s life. Their adept explanations of Islamic teachings resonated deeply with Meshack’s intellectual and spiritual quest, leading him to embrace Islam wholeheartedly. Eager to deepen his understanding of his newfound faith, Meshack enrolled in the 6 month New Muslim Imam Program facilitated by iERA. This comprehensive training equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to convey the message of Islam effectively to others.
Armed with conviction and empowered by his training, Meshack embarked on a mission to share Islam with his community and beyond. His articulate presentation of Islamic teachings and compassionate approach to dialogue resonated with many, leading to a notable impact on those around him. Notably, Meshack’s outreach efforts resulted in his own mother embracing Islam.

Recognizing the transformative potential of his work, Meshack Salim joined iERA in December 2023. As a volunteer of the organization, Meshack is actively involved in sharing Islam in remote areas of Malawi, where access to religious education and resources may be limited. His commitment to reaching underserved communities, coupled with his firsthand understanding of their unique challenges makes him a valuable asset in iERA’s mission of global dawah.

Misheck Salim’s journey from questioning Christianity to embracing Islam underscores the transformative power of intellectual inquiry and sincere conviction. His dedication to sharing Islam, particularly in underserved communities, highlights the universal appeal and relevance of the faith’s message.

As Meshack continues his work with iERA in Malawi, his story serves as a beacon of hope, inspiring dialogue, understanding, and positive change in a diverse and complex world.
