The G.O.R.A.P SKILLS

Islamic empires have played a significant role in Islamic history and the world at large. Among them, the Umayyad Caliphate and the Abbasid Caliphate are among the major empires that greatly contributed to the spread of Islam, Islamic culture, and science.

The Umayyad Caliphate (661-750 CE) spread Islam to regions including Spain (al-Andalus) in the West and Central Asia in the East. The Abbasid Caliphate (750-1258 CE) was known for its patronage of science, culture, and education. Additionally, the Ottoman Empire (1299-1922) brought stability, prosperity, and development to many regions.

Similarly, the work of Dawah, carried out by our Duat, has benefited many communities in Tanzania through our religious teachings, where we engage in social activities to uplift communities for a better future, including fostering good morals. There are many testimonies to this effect, like that of an elder who abandoned alcohol, as testified by his daughter in one of the villages in the Iringa Region of Tanzania.

Using the GORAP method, the Duat have been educating many people in various languages, similar to the work of Islamic empires, to bring stability and prosperity to communities. GORAP emphasizes periodic seminars so that those Duat might update themselves toward using this method.

MUSLIM OUTFIT LEAD HIM INTO ISLAM

During a chance encounter, they met someone adorned in a Muslim headscarf adorned with Islamic symbols. Intrigued by the dignified appearance and symbols, they felt compelled to inquire further. They approached the individual and expressed a deep-seated desire to embrace Islam. The attire had left a profound impression on them, prompting a heartfelt plea to be guided through the process of conversion.

Moved by their earnest request, the individuals present gladly assisted in their conversion. They were warmly welcomed into the faith, marking a significant moment of spiritual transformation. The newly converted individual expressed gratitude and a newfound sense of belonging. They eagerly awaited the promised gift of a similar headscarf, symbolizing their commitment to their new faith and its traditions.

As they awaited the upcoming class session, anticipation grew for the moment when they would receive their headscarf. The promise of the attire reinforced their sense of identity and connection to their newly embraced faith. In this moment of transition, they found solace and acceptance among those who had guided them on this transformative journey toward Islam.

ENCOUNTER ON THE ROAD

He is the New Muslim one day, as they traveled along the road towards a distant village for da’wah, a mission to spread Islamic teachings, they encountered an elderly man, aged 78. Stopping them in their tracks, he recognized them as visitors in his village. He began by asking if they were Muslims.

Confirming their faith, the du’at replied that they were indeed Muslims. The elderly man then noted how he had identified them by the distinctive cap worn by one of the du’at. Intrigued, he requested to learn more about Islam. Impressed by their knowledgeable responses, he invited them to sit in the shade and share their understanding of Islam with him.

As they conversed, the elderly man recounted his own journey of faith and religious practices. The du’at listened attentively, guiding him further on Islamic beliefs. Eventually, he grasped the teachings and embraced Islam with happiness.

May Allah protect our elder in this newfound faith.
