As January unfolded across Uganda, a quiet but powerful transformation took root within the local communities. For the dedicated Duat (outreach specialists) of iERA Uganda, the start of 2026 wasn’t just about the passage of time—it was about witnessing the blossoming of faith in its purest form.
After weeks of immersive “Opening Lectures,” where the fundamental pillars and basics of Islam were carefully planted, the moment of truth arrived. It was time for the new Muslims to move from being listeners to being practitioners.
To ensure that the essence of Islam had truly settled in their hearts, iERA Duat provided a platform for these new believers to demonstrate their progress. This wasn’t just a test of memory; it was a celebration of identity.

Among those who stood tall was Sharifah. Like many in her cohort, Sharifah began the month with curiosity and a seeking heart. By the end of January, she stood before her fellow classmates to recite Surah Al-Fatiha—the Opening chapter of the Qur’an and the heartbeat of every prayer.
The scene was one of profound brotherhood and sisterhood. As Sharifah and others recited the sacred verses:
This January milestone proves that dawah is about more than just delivering a message; it is about companionship. By spending months on the ground, iERA Duat are not just teaching a religion—they are building a foundation for a resilient, educated, and spiritual community.
The success of Sharifah and her peers serves as a testament to the fact that when the basics are taught with patience and love, the results are life-changing. As these new Muslims prosper, they become the beacons of light that will continue to change the face of their communities for years to come.
