Wisdom Medison from Chiradzulu embraced Islam seven months ago after learning about the beautiful teachings of Islam. Wisdom grew up following his parents’ religion and had little knowledge about Islam. While he was in secondary school, he had a Muslim friend who always carried a bottle of water whenever he went to the toilet. One day, Wisdom and some of his friends asked him why he always carried water with him. His friend explained that he used it for istinja, cleaning himself with water after relieving himself, because Islam teaches Muslims to maintain cleanliness at all times.
Some of the students laughed at the Muslim boy and asked why he would use water instead of tissue paper. However, he confidently explained that Islamic teachings encourage the use of water for purification and cleanliness. Wisdom was impressed by his friend’s answer. As he walked home that day, he kept thinking about what his friend had said. He felt that the teaching made sense and began developing an interest in Islam. Deep in his heart, he wanted to become a Muslim, but he was afraid because of how his parents might react.

Later, Wisdom met an iERA dawah team that shared the message of Islam with him and answered many of his questions. After understanding the teachings of Islam, he willingly embraced Islam and took his Shahadah. When his parents heard that he had become a Muslim, they were unhappy and began treating him differently. Despite the challenges, Wisdom remained patient and steadfast in his faith. Whenever he went to the masjid, he would make dua for his parents and ask Allah to guide them to Islam.
Alhamdulillah, one day the iERA dawah team visited Wisdom’s parents and shared the message of Islam with them as well. After learning about the teachings of Islam and understanding its message, both of his parents embraced Islam. They not only accepted their son’s decision but also became supportive of his journey. They later allowed Wisdom to attend the iERA intensive program so that he could continue learning more about Islam and strengthen his knowledge of the faith.
