The midday sun beat down relentless heat over the quiet village paths of rural Uganda, but the group of iERA du’at pressed on. Driven by a deep sense of purpose, their mission was clear: ensure no new convert is left behind.
For the team, Islamic outreach didn’t end when someone pronounced the Shahada. They knew that without guidance, encouragement, and foundational knowledge, a newly planted seed of faith could struggle to bloom. To change communities religiously, they adopted an unwavering strategy—leave no stone unturned.
While conducting Jaula—walking door-to-door through the village to meet residents and share the beauty of Islam—they arrived at a small, humble homestead. Outside sat a woman busy preparing her household for the evening.
The du’at greeted her warmly and struck up a conversation. With gentleness and clarity, they explained the message of Islam: the oneness of God (Tawheed), the purpose of life, and the peace that comes with submitting to the Creator. As they spoke, she listened quietly. The words resonated deeply within her heart. By the immense mercy and grace of Allah, the light of truth touched her soul. She declared her faith and embraced Islam.
When the du’at invited Mariam to the weekly New Muslim Support Classes, her face fell. The nearest learning center was miles away across rough terrain. Without access to affordable transport and tied to her daily domestic responsibilities, attending the regular classes was practically impossible.
For many, this might have been a dead end. But the du’at refused to let distance stand between a new sister and her faith.
“If the seeker cannot reach the knowledge, then the knowledge must travel to the seeker.”
In the days and weeks that followed, the du’at made consistent return journeys down those long, dusty paths. Under the shade of Mariam’s yard, a makeshift classroom was born.
What started as simple home visits transformed Mariam’s life. The confusion of being a beginner vanished, replaced by confidence, peace, and a profound love for her prayer. Her transformation did not go unnoticed—her family and neighbors observed her newfound tranquility, neatness in worship, and unwavering kindness.
Through the relentless spirit of the iERA Uganda team, Mariam was not just saved from being left behind; she became a beacon of light in her own corner of the village. The commitment to leave no stone unturned has proven once again that when sincere effort meets divine grace, entire communities begin to change—one heart at a time
