How a Born-Again Youth Found Islam

As iERA Duats began their daily walk to spread Dawah, they spotted Godfrey, a 28-year-old with a kind face and an open expression. When the Duats approached him with a smile and a greeting of peace, they opened the conversation with a question that gets to the heart of the human experience: “How do you know God in your life, Godfrey?”

Godfrey didn’t hesitate. “I am a born-again Christian,” he replied warmly. “Jesus is my Savior and the creator. That is how I know God.”

When asked what he knew of Islam, Godfrey admitted his knowledge was limited. “I know Muslims pray five times a day,” he said with a shrug. “Beyond that, I don’t know much.”

The Duats didn’t rush him. Instead, they began to weave a narrative that connected Godfrey’s existing faith to the core of Islam. They spoke of the Oneness of God, the idea that the same Power that crafted the stars and the seasons is the only One worthy of worship.

They explained that Islam isn’t a “new” religion, but a return to the original message of all the prophets. They spoke of:

  • The Lineage of Prophets: How Muslims love and honor Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David.
  • Jesus in Islam: They clarified that while Muslims don’t view Jesus as the “Son of God,” they hold him in the highest esteem as a mighty Messenger of God, born of the Virgin Mary, and a miracle-worker by God’s leave.
  • The Path of Action: They showed Godfrey how Muslims strive to follow the modest, prayerful, and God-conscious lifestyle that Jesus himself practiced.

Godfrey listened intently. The explanation was long and thorough, peeling back layers of misconception. Finally, Godfrey took a deep breath. The world felt a little clearer. He realized that his search for the Truth had led him to this very sidewalk.

With a firm voice and a light heart, Godfrey declared his faith. To mark this transformation, he chose a name Ramadhan that carried the weight of sacrifice, reflection, and blessing.

Ramadan walked away not just as a man who knew about five daily prayers, but as a man who had found his place in the worship of the One True God. The Duats watched him go, knowing that today, a new chapter had begun.
