How New Muslim Classes Are Turning Learners into Lasting Believers

It was a moment filled with surprise, joy, and heartfelt emotions during a New Muslim Class conducted by iERA da‘ees. What began as an ordinary learning session soon turned into a life-changing experience as five women courageously raised their hands, expressing their readiness to embrace Islam.

The class had been an opportunity for the attendees to learn about Islam, its teachings, and the message of the prophets. As the iERA da‘ees continued teaching about the Oneness of Allah, they explained that Allah is the Almighty, the One worthy of worship, and the Lord of all creation. They further emphasized that all the prophets called their people to worship Allah alone, and that Muslims follow the same divine message.

The attendees listened attentively as the lessons unfolded, with the message resonating deeply in the hearts of some participants, including Namakula Serena, Nabikolo Florence, and Zawedde Janet.

Then came a beautiful and unexpected moment.

The women raised their hands and posed a heartfelt question to the da‘ees:

“We have been attending these classes since they began, and we have learned so many things from Muslims. But how can one become a Muslim?”

The da‘ees responded with warm smiles, recognizing the sincerity behind the question. They gently explained that embracing Islam begins with taking the Shahadah—the declaration of faith that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

What happened next left the class filled with excitement and gratitude.

Without hesitation, the women stood up and prepared to take the Shahadah. In that precious moment, their journey of learning took a new and beautiful turn as they declared their faith and embraced Islam.

As they entered this new chapter of their lives, they adopted new Muslim names. Serena became Hanifah, Florence became Hajarah, Janet became Halimah, Mercy became Fauzia, and Mardrine became Madina.

Among them was Hajarah, aged 30, whose journey from attending the classes to embracing Islam reflected the profound impact of learning, reflection, and understanding.

The atmosphere was filled with happiness as the da‘ees witnessed the women take this significant step. Their decision served as a powerful reminder that sometimes, a simple question can open the door to a life-changing discovery.

For these five women, the New Muslim Class was no longer just a place to acquire knowledge about Islam. It had become the beginning of a new spiritual journey—one rooted in faith, the Oneness of Allah, and the desire to live according to His guidance.

Alhamdulillah\! Their Shahadah marked a beautiful milestone, reminding everyone present of the importance of sharing the message of Islam with wisdom, kindness, and patience.

May Allah strengthen Hanifah, Hajarah, Halimah, Fauzia, and Madina upon Islam, increase them in beneficial knowledge, and make their journey one filled with guidance, steadfastness, and blessings. Ameen.
