Three Years of Sacrifice Behind the Scenes

In the quiet corners of Uganda’s most remote districts, where the roads end and the real work begins, you will often find *Muwaya Abed*. For three years, Abed has served as an Outreach Specialist (Daee) with iERA Uganda, a role that requires equal parts patience, physical endurance, and unshakable faith.

For Abed, this isn’t just a job; it is a calling to bring hearts back to their Creator.

Reflecting on his journey, Abed speaks with a sense of humble achievement. Over the last 36 months, he has traversed dozens of districts, crossing cultural and geographical boundaries to share the message of Islam. His work has been pivotal in not just bringing people to the faith, but in *transforming entire communities.*

One of his proudest moments came when his dawah touched the heart of a local elder. Inspired by Abed’s sincerity and the message of iERA, the elder offered a portion of his own land to the Muslim community. Today, that land stands as a foundation for a future mosque—a permanent sanctuary for prayer and learning.

While many see the success of a new Muslim Support Class, few see the hardships the Daees face in the field. Abed recalls a particularly testing time during a month-long mission.

Resources were scarce, and one morning, he and his partner realized they had no firewood to prepare the porridge needed to feed the team and the locals. Rather than giving up or complaining, Abed and his partner headed into the nearby forest.

> “It was risky,” Abed remembers. “The forest wasn’t exactly safe, but we had a mission to complete. We collected the wood ourselves, prepared the food, and managed to complete the entire month without the community ever feeling the shortage.”

Abed’s work doesn’t end with a Shahada. He has spent countless hours mentoring New Muslims, teaching them the fundamentals of their faith, and ensuring they feel supported in their new journey. From the dusty paths of distant villages to the front lines of community service, Abed Muwaya remains a pillar of iERA Uganda’s mission.
