At 65 years old, Ima Virgie’s journey into Islam is nothing short of inspiring. As a new Muslim, she faces a challenge many would find overwhelming—she cannot read or write. Yet, her heart has become her greatest strength.
Despite this, she has successfully memorized Surah Al-Fatiha and Surah Al-Ikhlas, holding firmly onto the words of the Qur’an through dedication and sincerity alone. Her story is a powerful reminder that guidance is not limited by age or ability.

With the support of knowledgeable teachers and more time to learn, her potential is even greater. Given the opportunity to be guided step by step—especially in improving her recitation and Tajweed—there is no doubt she will continue to grow and deepen her connection with the Qur’an.
The ten days of the New Muslim Program are a beautiful beginning, but for students like Ima Virgie, they are just the first step. With continued support and extended learning, new Muslims can achieve so much more in their journey—perfecting their recitation and strengthening their bond with the words of Allah.
Ima Virgie stands as a testament to what sincerity, patience, and determination can achieve. Even without the ability to read, she carries the Qur’an in her heart.
