On a typical day of street dawah in Iligan City, as the team shared the message of Islam with passersby. Across from our dawah table, at a small but busy salon, a curious hairdresser was listening closely to the ongoing conversation. Drawn by the words about Allah’s oneness and the message of Islam, she soon approached our table, her curiosity transforming into a heartfelt quest for understanding.
With genuine interest, she asked,
“How does someone convert to Islam?”
To ensure that her decision was heartfelt and clear, we walked over to her salon—a place filled with mirrors, styling tools, and now, a quiet reverence. There, in the comfort of her own workspace, she expressed her desire to accept Allah and bear witness to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as His messenger. Surrounded by the tools of her trade and the familiarity of her day-to-day life, she embraced Islam with a heart full of peace and purpose.
We facilitated her Shahada, guiding her as she spoke the beautiful words that would mark a new chapter in her life. In that moment, her journey from curious bystander to a sister in faith was complete, all through the chance encounter of street dawah.
Allahu Akbar! This story reminds us of how Allah guides whom He wills, often through the simplest interactions in unexpected places. The experience moved our team deeply, showing us once again the power of dawah and the beauty of Islam reaching someone’s heart.
