A New Light: Maryem’s Journey to the One True God

In the heart of Mexico, where faith and tradition are deeply rooted, Maryem, a former member of the Adventist Church, was living a life of devotion—but also of quiet spiritual unease.

Though she regularly read the Bible and tried to stay connected to God through what she had learned, something within her never quite settled.

There was a missing piece, a question that lingered in the back of her mind: Is this truly the full picture of my Creator?

The answer came in a most unexpected way—through a casual but sincere conversation with a Colombian woman, a Muslim who introduced her to the teachings of Islam.

Their discussion wasn’t filled with debates or arguments—it was centered on clarity, peace, and connection. And it was in that moment that Maryem heard, perhaps for the first time, a perspective of God that felt unquestionably pure: Allah, the One, the Eternal, without partner or equal.

Maryem had spent years reading Scripture, yet it was Islam that finally offered her a vision of God that aligned with both her heart and her intellect—a vision of a God who is near, compassionate, and free of human limitations. It felt like a door had opened—one she had been subconsciously searching for her entire life.

But what truly moved her—what ultimately led her to declare the Shahada, the testimony of faith—was learning about the Salah: the five daily prayers in Islam. She saw in them not just ritual, but a disciplined, intimate, and direct connection with God. It was exactly what she had longed for—a tangible, structured path to spiritual closeness, not just in theory, but in daily life.

Embracing Islam brought with it beautiful changes. Maryem now wears the hijab, not as a burden, but as a symbol of dignity and devotion. With grace and determination, she is adjusting to her new lifestyle, learning more each day, and stepping into a faith that gives her clarity, purpose, and peace.

Looking ahead, her goals are both simple and profound: to study, reflect, and continue growing spiritually. She wants to deepen her knowledge of the Qur’an, strengthen her practice, and build a relationship with Allah that is rooted in love and sincerity.

When asked what this new chapter means to her, Maryem doesn’t hesitate: “Connection with God.”

Her words are few, but they say everything.

May Allah continue to guide Maryem, strengthen her on this path, and grant her the sweetness of faith in this life and the next.

From uncertainty to clarity, from tradition to truth—Maryem’s journey reminds us that the search for God, when genuine, always leads to light.
