Three years ago, a young man in Mexico came across Islamic content on social media. What began as curiosity led him to visit a local dawah centre to learn more. But his search for spiritual clarity had started long before — and had taken him across the world.
Driven by a deep desire to understand religion, he had travelled to Israel to study Judaism. There, he immersed himself in the culture and religious teachings, hoping to find the answers he was seeking.
However, what he observed during his time in Israel left him with more questions. He saw that while Judaism is monotheistic, much of the practice was based on rabbinical interpretation rather than direct adherence to divine scripture. As he reflected, he noted, “In Judaism, they don’t truly follow the scriptures; they follow the rabbis.”
Meanwhile, his exposure to Islam began to reshape his understanding. Though he had initially been influenced by negative stereotypes, his real-life interactions with Muslims told a different story — one of humility, respect, and authenticity.
These encounters, combined with his reflections on pure monotheism, led him to a decisive conclusion: Islam presented a clear, undistorted path to the worship of one God.
Recently, he embraced Islam by taking his shahada, affirming his belief in the oneness of Allah and the finality of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
