A Festival Conversation Leads to a New Muslim in Kitchener

A cultural festival at Victoria Park became an opportunity for dawah as volunteers from the Kitchener team joined the What’s Your Goal? World Cup Dawah Campaign, engaging people from diverse backgrounds in conversations about faith, purpose, and the message of Islam.

Among those who stopped to speak with the team was Angela, a music teacher who works with children. Thoughtful and eager to learn, she spent much of the conversation listening and reflecting. While she already believed in the existence of a Creator, she was searching for clarity on one important question: Is the Creator one, or are there many?

The discussion naturally turned to the Qur’an and its message of pure monotheism. As volunteers shared verses about the oneness of Allah and recited passages from the Qur’an, Angela was deeply touched by both its message and its beauty. The conversation became an opportunity to explore the foundations of Islamic belief in a clear and accessible way.

By the mercy of Allah, what began as a simple exchange at a community festival ended with Angela embracing Islam and declaring her shahadah. Alhamdulillah.

Her story is a reminder that guidance can come through the most unexpected encounters. A sincere conversation, a few verses of the Qur’an, and a willingness to listen can, by Allah’s permission, become the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith.

May Allah keep our new sister steadfast upon Islam, increase her in knowledge and guidance, and accept the efforts of everyone who participated in sharing His message. Ameen.
