Alberto Magallón, a 52-year-old Mexican, describes his journey back to Islam as a path guided by curiosity, reflection, and the desire for truth. Born and raised in Mexico, Alberto had always been drawn to the culture and traditions of the Arab world. From a young age, Arabic literature, stories, and the beauty of mosques captured his imagination, planting seeds that would later grow into a profound spiritual journey.
His first meaningful encounter with Islam came around 2010–2011 at a local fair. Alberto noticed a stand selling Arabic clothing and handicrafts and decided to approach it, curious about the culture and the religion behind it. There he met a Muslim brother named Wasim. A brief conversation sparked questions in his heart, questions that would take years to fully explore.
In 2018, Alberto took a significant step: he embraced Islam and recited his first Shahada with Wasim at the Colima fair. But his journey did not stop there. He began sharing his discoveries with his wife, showing her the Qur’an and everything he had learned. Inspired by his sincerity, she too expressed her desire to take her Shahada.
Determined to guide his family together on the path, Alberto contacted a brother named Rafael in Guadalajara. In November 2021, both he and his wife formally embraced Islam together, marking a new chapter in their lives.
Reflecting on his journey, Alberto feels deep gratitude toward the Muslim communities in Mexico and around the world, who dedicate themselves to dawah—spreading the word of God and inviting others to peace and faith. “They are showing the true path,” he says, “the path of Islam, the true religion.”
For Alberto, Islam is not just a faith but a return to a calling he felt since childhood—a connection to a culture, a history, and above all, a God whose guidance he now follows wholeheartedly.
His story is a testament to patience, curiosity, and the power of sincere exploration. From an early fascination with Arabic stories to a lifelong journey of discovery, Alberto’s path reminds us that faith often finds us in moments of openness and genuine dialogue.
