During a street dawah session in Brampton, Canada, a meaningful conversation led to another beautiful example of how the message of Islam continues to touch hearts.
A brother originally from Africa stopped to speak with the dawah team and shared that his ancestral religion involved belief in multiple gods. This opened the door to a discussion about Tawheed—the belief in the oneness of Allah—and the logical foundation of pure monotheism.
The conversation began with a verse from the Qur’an:
“Had there been within the heavens and earth gods besides Allah, they both would have been ruined.”
(Surah Al-Anbiya 21:22)
The volunteers then invited him to reflect on a simple example from everyday life. Even among human beings, two leaders often disagree and compete for authority. If multiple gods existed, each with different wills and desires, how could the universe continue to function in such perfect order and harmony?
The brother listened carefully and agreed that the reasoning made sense.

As the discussion continued, one of the volunteers shared his own journey from Hinduism to Islam, explaining how his search for truth eventually led him to realize that pure monotheism provides the clearest and most logical understanding of God. The brother was deeply engaged throughout the conversation and repeatedly expressed that what he was hearing resonated with him.
Before concluding the discussion, Brother Akeel gently invited him to embrace Islam by declaring the Shahada.
By the permission and mercy of Allah, the brother accepted the invitation and took his Shahada, officially beginning his journey as a Muslim. He also accepted a copy of the Qur’an so that he could continue learning about his new faith.
Alhamdulillah, this was one of four Shahadas witnessed by the Brampton team during that day’s street dawah efforts.
Moments like these serve as a powerful reminder that the message of Tawheed is both natural and compelling. While people may come from different backgrounds, cultures, and belief systems, the truth of worshipping one Creator alone continues to resonate with sincere hearts.
Ultimately, guidance belongs to Allah alone. Our role is simply to convey the message with wisdom, sincerity, and compassion.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“By Allah, if Allah were to guide one man through you, it would be better for you than red camels.”
(Bukhari and Muslim)
May Allah keep our new brother steadfast upon Islam, increase him in knowledge and faith, and make him a source of goodness for his family and community.
