During a street dawah session in Mississauga, Canada, a remarkable conversation unfolded that served as a powerful reminder of how Allah guides hearts.
One of the volunteers met an Iranian man who had recently immigrated to Canada. The brother identified as an atheist and spoke very little English. By the mercy of Allah, the volunteer was able to communicate with him in Dari, a language closely related to Persian, allowing them to engage in a meaningful discussion.
Their conversation began with the question of God’s existence. Using a simple example, the volunteer pointed to the iPhone the man was holding and asked whether he believed someone had invented it. The man agreed that such a device could not have come into existence on its own. Building on this, the volunteer explained that if a smartphone requires a designer and creator, then surely a human being—with intelligence, emotions, purpose, and intricate design—must also have a Creator.
As the discussion continued, they explored the purpose of life and the signs of Allah’s existence. The conversation encouraged the brother to reflect deeply on the reality of a Creator and the importance of belief in one God.
By the end of their exchange, he acknowledged that the universe and human life could not exist without a Creator. While the conversation was only one step in his journey, it was a significant moment of reflection and openness to the truth.

What made this encounter even more inspiring was that just an hour earlier, at the very same location, another atheist had embraced Islam and declared the Shahada. These moments serve as a reminder that guidance belongs entirely to Allah. A person may be surrounded by Islam throughout their life and remain distant from it, while another may come from disbelief and find their heart opened to the truth.
Every sincere conversation, every question answered, and every seed planted may become the means through which Allah guides someone.
As the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“By Allah, if Allah were to guide one man through you, it would be better for you than red camels.”
(Bukhari and Muslim)
May Allah guide this brother to Islam, keep those who have accepted the faith steadfast upon the truth, and continue to make our efforts a means of guidance for others.
