What began as an ordinary search for a suitable location for street dawah along Toronto’s waterfront became a powerful reminder that Allah can place guidance in the most unexpected moments.
As volunteers prepared for the What’s Your Goal? World Cup Dawah Campaign, they noticed a couple sitting on a nearby bench and began a friendly conversation. What started as a casual exchange soon developed into a heartfelt discussion about life, purpose, forgiveness, and the boundless mercy of Allah.
During the conversation, the husband shared that he was Muslim, while his wife explained that although she believed Islam was the truth, she had always felt she was “not ready” to embrace it. As the discussion continued, she spoke openly about her thoughts and concerns. With compassion and sincerity, the volunteers answered her questions and encouraged her to reflect on Allah’s mercy and the purpose of faith.
The conversation took an emotional turn when she revealed that she had recently learned she was expecting a child. Through tears, she expressed her desire for her son or daughter to be raised upon Islam. In that moment, the message she had long believed in became a decision she was ready to act upon.
By the mercy of Allah, before leaving the waterfront, she declared her shahadah with her husband standing beside her, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life.
This beautiful encounter serves as a reminder that dawah is not about winning debates or proving others wrong. It is about sincere conversations, listening with compassion, addressing misconceptions with wisdom, and presenting the beauty of Islam in a way that reaches the heart.
