A Street Dawah conversation in UK began with a question many people ask themselves: “What is the goal in life?” For one man, the answer was happiness, becoming the best version of himself, and finding a sense of security. But his journey had taught him that true security could not always be found through the things of this world.
He openly shared that he had experienced a difficult period in his life and was now in recovery. After years of uncertainty, he had begun to rebuild his life and discover a greater sense of stability. He also described himself as spiritual, believing in a higher power and recognising that when he remained connected to that higher power, his life was better. When he relied only on his own will, things often became more difficult.
This created a natural opening to discuss Islam. The Dawah conversation introduced him to Tawheed and the Islamic understanding that Allah is One, eternal, and unlike His creation. He learned that throughout history, Allah sent prophets and messengers, including Noah, Abraham and Moses, culminating in the final message revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Islam teaches that human beings were created with a purpose: to know their Creator, worship Him, do good, and ultimately return to Him.
The conversation about guidance particularly resonated with him. He reflected on his own experience and how trying to guide himself had led him down destructive paths. Now, having found greater stability and inner peace, he could appreciate the importance of having guidance in life. The discussion showed how Islam offers more than a set of rituals; it provides a framework for understanding why we are here, how we should live, and where we are ultimately going.
Before leaving, he was given a free English translation of the Qur’an and encouraged to read it and explore Islam further. What began as a conversation about happiness, security and the purpose of life became an opportunity to introduce him to a different way of understanding his journey and his relationship with the Creator. May Allah guide him to the truth, strengthen all those involved in Dawah, and make every sincere conversation a means of guidance and benefit.
