From Magic to Tawheed

Margaret Jon grew up practicing the Apostolic Church and remained a committed Christian for almost 39 years. During this time, she was known in her community for using what she believed to be magical practices to convince people that her church was the true religion. She also told people that Islam was not the right religion and encouraged them to follow Christianity. Many people believed what she told them because of the influence she had in the community.

One day, an IERA Dawah team came to her village to conduct Dawah. During their door-to-door outreach, they met Margaret and shared the message of Islam with her. At first, she refused to accept what they told her. The following day, the team visited her again and invited her to attend the Dawah classes. They explained to her that everyone was welcome, even Christians. Margaret agreed to attend the classes and listen to the teachings.

When Margaret started attending the classes, she was initially one of the people who challenged the lessons and caused difficulties because of her strong beliefs and her involvement in magical practices. However, as the Dawah team began teaching about Tawheed—the belief that Allah is One and that He alone has ultimate power—her heart began to open. She started to understand that no one has power greater than Allah and that the power she had believed in through magic was nothing compared with the power of Allah.

This understanding changed Margaret’s life. She decided to accept Islam and took her Shahadah. After becoming Muslim, she rejected her former practices and burned the items she had been using for magic.
