Finding Purpose in the Quran: A Colombian Woman’s Spiritual Journey.

Sara Ester Otero, 59, Barranquilla, Colombia

In the search for spiritual fulfillment, especially during adversities, the Colombian sister Sara Ester Otero discovered Islam. She knew nothing about Islam until she began studying each of the religions. When she encountered Islam, she felt she had missed out on so much by not knowing about it earlier.

Her curiosity deepened when she started reading the Quran, opening up a new world for her and changing her perspective on life. For Sara, Islam is not just a religion but a way of life.

The transformation was gradual but profound. As she read and learned from the Quran, she found herself, which changed her view of life. She moved from being attached to the mundane to understanding that there is more beyond this life.

“The Quran taught me to see death differently, not with fear but as the hope of something better. It taught me the purpose of life and to live it with love for myself and for others.”

Sara would recommend reading the Quran to avoid sufferings and making bad decisions: “The Quran offers you answers and allows you to understand many things that you didn’t understand before.”

She thinks that her experience every Friday doing dawah and handing out Qurans to those interested is a testament to the importance of sharing the message of the sacred book with others. People find in the Quran answers and a deeper understanding of life.

“Making the true Islam known through the Quran is crucial, and sharing it with the world is a fundamental part of our faith.”
