Meet Jorge Flores, a 47-year-old resident of Santiago de Chile, whose path to Islam wasn’t linear. After experiences with a previous faith left him unfulfilled, Jorge stepped away from organized religion. However, his curiosity about the world’s diverse spiritual traditions remained.
This curiosity led him to online courses, he did an online Harvard course on world religions. Upon reaching the module on Islam, he was struck by it and decided to do some more research. It was here that Islam sparked a fire within him. The teachings resonated deeply, prompting Jorge to seek further understanding.
Driven by this newfound interest, Jorge purchased a Quran and reached out to Fundación Islamia de Chile for guidance. Fundación Islamia de Chile connected him with a local mosque and welcoming him into their community. Through visits and learning materials, Jorge delved deeper into the Islamic faith.
A recent illness served as a pivotal moment for Jorge. It prompted him to reflect on his life’s purpose and the spiritual path he craved. Without hesitation, he contacted Fundación Islamia de Chile once more, and during a video call, Jorge officially embraced Islam.
Jorge’s story is a beautiful testament to the transformative power of the Quran and the open-mindedness that allows us to explore different faiths. It’s a reminder that faith journeys can be unexpected, and sometimes, all it takes is a single book to spark a lifetime of discovery.
