A Change of Heart: Joshua’s Journey

Joshua, a devoted Christian, had always been confident in his faith. He had grown up in a Christian household, attended church regularly, and even participated in youth group activities. However, his perspective on Jesus Christ began to shift after meeting some brothers from Iera, who shared with him the word of Allah from Islamic books.

The brothers’ passion and knowledge of the scriptures impressed Joshua, and he couldn’t deny the similarities between Islam and Christianity. They discussed the prophets, the importance of prayer, and the unity of God. Joshua was particularly struck by the Islamic emphasis on Jesus as a prophet and messenger, rather than the son of God.

As the conversations continued, Joshua began to feel a sense of unease. He realized that he had never truly questioned his beliefs about Jesus’ divinity before. The brothers from Iera presented their arguments, citing verses from the Bible and the Quran, and Joshua couldn’t shake off the feeling that he needed to reevaluate his faith.

The phrase “Jesus is Lord” had always rolled off his tongue effortlessly, but now, it felt like a heavy burden. He felt shy to utter those words, not because he didn’t believe in Jesus, but because he was unsure of what he truly believed.

“I don’t know what to think,” Joshua confessed to his new friends. “I’ve always said Jesus is God, but now I’m not so sure. It feels like I’m being pulled in two different directions.”

The brothers from Iera listened attentively, offering words of encouragement and guidance. “We’re not here to judge you, Joshua,” one of them said. “We’re here to share the truth as we see it. Take your time, reflect on the scriptures, and seek guidance from Allah.”

Joshua’s journey is ongoing, but one thing is clear: he is seeking truth and willing to question his long-held beliefs. Only time will tell where his heart will lead him, but for now, he is taking a step back to reflect on his faith and explore the beauty of Islam.
