More often than not, leaders find it difficult to accept an ideology or belief that someone is more in authority than them.
Every power monger seeks to be the greatest and everyone should answer to them and never do they want to answer to anyone.
However, when it comes to Alinafe Mangulama, a village head, that was never the case.
She embraced Islam when the iERA team in Malawi arrived in her village to spread the faith.
According to her, she was attracted to the faith for a number of reasons.
She said, “The first time, the coming of iERA teachers in our village opened my eyes and my people’s eyes towards Islam,”
she said. ‘You might be wondering what exactly brought Alinafe to the fold Islam’.
‘Here is the story. What drew Alinafe to Islam the most was the emphasis on cleanliness’.
She said she was deeply moved by the teachings of the religion and the simplicity of its beliefs. And when she reverted to Islam, as a result of her shahadah, many people in her village also accepted Islam.
Not only did her own people embrace the religion, but even some other Chiefs in the area were curious to know why she had made the decision to revert.
After explaining the reasons behind her choice, such as the logical beliefs of Islam like the oneness of God and the absence of any offspring, they too decided to revert to Islam.
As a village head, Alinafe’s impact on her community has been vast and significant.
Her decision to embrace Islam has not only benefited the Muslim community but has also sparked interest and curiosity among others in the village, who have been flocking to Islam.
