The Prophet’s Path: A Ugandan Farmer’s New Dawn

The midday sun beat down on the rich red soil of the Ugandan village, where life moved at the steady rhythm of the hoe and the turning season. Here, in his shamba, was Ronald, a man defined by his sturdy build and the honest sweat on his brow. He was deeply engaged in his work, focused on loosening the soil around his crops, when a gentle shadow fell over him.

Approaching were two young men from iERA Uganda, their faces alight with peaceful purpose they were duats, dedicated to spreading the message of Islam. They offered a warm greeting and, with a respectful distance, began to share the core of their faith: the simple, powerful concept of Tawhid, the oneness of God.

Ronald listened for a moment, his hands resting on the hoe handle, his gaze sharp and critical. He appreciated their sincerity, but their words quickly led to his conviction. He cut them short, his voice firm but polite.

“Hold on a moment, my brothers,” Ronald said, wiping his brow. “I am a Christian. I am a believer who goes to church every single weekend. How can you explain God to me when I already follow Him?”

The duats smiled patiently. “Brother Ronald, we are not doubting your belief in God, but belief is only one step,” one of them replied. “We also have to know what God truly wants from us, and the true ways of worshipping Him as practiced by the great prophets before us.”

They spoke not of new doctrine, but of ancient practice. They explained that the lineage of prophets, from Adam to Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and finally Muhammad (peace be upon them all), all shared a common, humbling posture in prayer. They spoke of how the prophets bowed down, prostrating to the Almighty, and how they cleaned themselves through ritual washing before entering their places of worship.

The quiet logic and historical truth of their argument struck Ronald with the force of revelation. As he looked from the sun-drenched earth to the earnest faces of the duats, the pieces of his own faith clicked into a new, clear pattern. His heart recognized a truth deeper than tradition, a connection to the path of the prophets he had always revered.

In that sun-drenched garden, amidst the scent of upturned soil, Ronald’s spiritual journey found its true direction. He embraced Islam, submitting to the oneness of God, and adopted a new name that reflected the clear path he had chosen Rashid.
