
In a remarkable journey of self-discovery, Sander Sigurdson, a 35-year-old Filipino-American, embarked on a lifelong quest to find the truth about his heritage and spirituality. Having never met his father, Sander’s life took a transformative turn when he encountered Islam during iERA’s Salah workshop.
Sander’s path to Islam was not an easy one. In his pursuit of answers, he explored various religions such as Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Iglesia ni Cristo, Born-Again Christianity, and Ang Dating Daan. Despite his search, he found himself feeling unfulfilled and empty.
Everything changed when his wife developed an interest in Islam, inspired by her sister’s conversion. Intrigued by her newfound fascination, Sander began learning more about Islam alongside her. Their journey led them to attend OS Kuya Bob’s Salah workshop, a pivotal moment in Sander’s life.
During this workshop, Sander had his first encounter with the teachings of Islam, and it resonated deeply with him. On the final day of the Salah workshop, he made the life-altering decision to take his Shahadah. This profound experience filled him with an overwhelming sense of peace and clarity, unlike anything he had experienced before.
Grateful for his wife’s curiosity, which set him on this spiritual path, Sander realized that his journey had only just begun. Filled with enthusiasm, he looked forward to continuing his exploration of Islam and growing in his newfound faith.
