IMAGINE SEEING A QUR’AN FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YOUR LIFE
iERA in Nigeria walked in to the campaign after a long time of preparation after facing several obstacles to getting this event to take place.
While preparing on what locations and venues to be used for the campaign, the team were disappointed to have gotten a setback about some of the venues two days before the program.
However, the team stuck to iERA code of conduct of ‘never give up’ and still managed to pull through with the program in five different cities.
The people of some of the states were so excited to have seen Muslims campaigning with the message of Islam and were very welcoming irrespective of the perception of Nigerian non Muslims towards Muslims in general.
For one of the people that was interacted with in one of the cities, that was the very first time he had set his eyes on the Qur’an and it could be clearly seen on his face that that day was a historic day for him as well as a blessing for the team that a Nigerian non Muslim would read the Qur’an for the first time and change his perception of Islam.
The audiences gladly allowed themselves to be captured in images which is really a big deal in the country especially when you are a Muslim.
One of them went to the extent of asking of of the brothers taking the image, ‘why are you hiding to take the image?’
‘Are you a criminal?’ the brother answered in the negative and the gentleman further said ‘if you are not a criminal and are not guilty of any crime, take as many images as you want’.
Needless to say that it was a great day for the team in Nigeria on the world dawah day. It was a fruitful event although the was no recorded shahadah.
There were twenty volunteers that turned up for the campaign and the team is working on maintaining them for future events.
