A Journey of Faith at a Gas Station: How a Simple Stop Led to a Heart Embracing Islam

Alhamdulillah, Allah continues to guide hearts in the most unexpected places. One such inspiring moment unfolded during our recent journey to Sitio Baag, Tarlac, for the New Muslim Support Program.

As our team stopped at a Shell gas station to refuel, one of our companions casually began a conversation with the station supervisor about Islam. It was a brief exchange, but little did we know that this small encounter would soon blossom into something truly life-changing.

The following day, on our way back from the program, we stopped at the same gas station once again. This time, it was the supervisor who approached us — filled with curiosity and a sincere desire to learn more about Islam. Since we hadn’t been able to speak with him in detail before, we took the opportunity to share the message of Islam using the GORAP methodology.

We explained the oneness of Allah — that He alone is worthy of worship, and that we are to worship the Creator, not the creation. We also spoke about how Allah, in His mercy, sent prophets to guide humanity on when, where, and how to worship Him.

By Allah’s will, these words touched the supervisor’s heart. Filled with conviction and peace, Brother Van embraced Islam right there at the gas station. His declaration of faith was a moment of pure joy and gratitude for everyone present.

Before we left, Brother Van connected with us through social media so that we could continue to guide and support him on his new journey. Although regular visits aren’t always possible, we stay in touch through messages, ensuring he continues to learn and grow in his faith.

Alhamdulillah, despite the financial challenges our team faces, we remain steadfast in spreading the message of Islam wherever we go. Each encounter — whether in a mosque, a village, or even a gas station — reminds us that guidance comes only from Allah, and He opens hearts in His perfect time.

We continue to seek opportunities to collaborate with iERA and other Islamic organizations, working together to sustain our dawah efforts and reach more souls eager to discover the beauty of Islam
