From Misconceptions to Mercy: Two Sisters Find Their Way Home

Under the warm Ugandan sun, the iERA Uganda Duats set out on a mission of heart and soul, navigating the quiet paths of a local village. Their journey led them to the doorstep of two sisters, Nakalema Ruth and Nasazi Robina, who were busy with the rhythm of daily domestic chores.

What began as a simple request for a moment of their time transformed into a life-changing conversation about the Creator and the true essence of faith.

When the Duats asked the sisters what they knew about Islam, the answer was honest but heartbreaking. “We knew Islam as a bad religion,” they admitted, reflecting the weight of common misconceptions.

Without judgment, the Duats began to peel back the layers of those myths. They spoke of Tawheed—the absolute oneness of God—and explained how Islam is not a new invention, but the beautiful continuation of the path walked by all the Prophets. They showed the sisters how the way Muslims pray and live is a living echo of the devotion shown by the messengers of old.

As the truth began to resonate, a flicker of concern remained. Ruth, the elder sister, asked a question that many carry in their hearts: “Will converting to Islam make our daily lives harder?”

The Duats responded with the comforting words of the faith: Islam did not come to burden humanity, but to provide ease, clarity, and a straight path to peace. They explained that Islam is a way of life designed to bring tranquility to the soul and order to the home, not to create hardship.

The weight of doubt lifted, replaced by a profound sense of conviction. There, in the middle of their family home, both sisters made the most important decision of their lives.

With steady voices and joyful hearts, they pronounced the Shahada, declaring their faith in One God and His Messenger. In that moment of transformation:

  • Nakalema Ruth (26) chose the name Aisha.
  • Nasazi Robina (25) chose the name Sharifa.

The iERA Duats left the home that day knowing that two more souls had found the “ease” promised by Allah. What started as a day of chores ended as a day of salvation, proving once again that the truth of Islam—when shared with wisdom and kindness—can soften even the most hesitant hearts.
