My name is Dorothy Herbat, and I am from Mulanje. At first, I was a member of the Catholic Church. I prayed in this church for almost 40 years because it was the religion we were born into from our parents. As a Catholic member, I followed everything the church taught us. Sometimes we saw other teachings as wrong because we did not know much outside our church, and we had no other choice except to follow what we were taught.
In the year 2026, a dawah team from iERA came to our village to conduct Islamic dawah classes. I started attending these classes every day. As I continued learning, the teachings touched my heart deeply. One thing that made me love Islam was how Muslim women dress modestly and cover their bodies properly. In Christianity, I did not learn much about modest dressing for women in the same way.

Because of what I learned, I decided to revert to Islam and take my Shahadah. However, I faced challenges after my mother heard that I had embraced Islam. She asked me why I had become a Muslim. She also said that when I die, they would not put flowers on my grave, and she told me that Islam is a bad religion. She even said that Muslims remove intestines from a dead body before burial.
I replied to her by saying that I would learn and see the truth for myself. Right now, I am still searching for knowledge and continuing to learn more about Islam. The more I learn, the more I understand that Islam is a good religion that follows the truth, teaches peace, respect, modesty, and worship of one God.
