One Visit, One Question: Alick’s Journey to Islam

In 2025, Alick Kalichelo went to his uncle’s home for a holiday, where he stayed for two weeks. During that time, he met three friends he used to spend time with. These friends regularly attended Dawah classes organized by iERA. One day, Alick decided to join them and attend one of these classes, even though he was a Christian (Catholic) at the time.

During the class, an outreach specialist was teaching about the oneness of Allah — that Allah is One. This teaching confused Alick because, as a Christian, he believed in the Trinity. He had many questions in his heart, so he asked the outreach specialist why they said there is only one God, Allah, and why they said that Jesus is not God.

After the class, Alick met the outreach specialist in person. The outreach specialist explained everything clearly and in detail, answering all his questions. Through this personal discussion, Alick came to understand that Jesus is a messenger of Allah, not God. That same day, Alick Kalichelo took his Shahada and embraced Islam. He then went to tell his uncle about his decision, and to his surprise, his uncle told him that he was also a Muslim.

When the holiday ended, Alick returned home and told his parents that he had become a Muslim. At first, they were upset and questioned why he had changed the religion of their family. They called his uncle to inform him, but his uncle confirmed that he too was a Muslim and explained the beauty and truth of Islam to them. In the end, they understood and accepted Alick’s decision, allowing him to continue as a Muslim.
