For years, the household of a local Muslim man was a place of quiet tension regarding faith. His wife, Specioza, born and raised in a devout Catholic family, lived with a deep-seated apprehension toward Islam. Despite her husband’s repeated efforts to convince her to join him in his faith, Specioza remained steadfast in her refusal.
Her resistance wasn’t rooted in a lack of love for her husband, but in a profound fear of her parents. To Specioza, conversion felt like a betrayal that would spark family outrage and sever the bonds with those who raised her.
The narrative changed when a team of iERA Duats visited the home. The husband explained his frustrations, admitting he had even tried to compel her, but to no avail. The Duats, however, took a different approach—one rooted in wisdom, gentleness, and clarity.
They spoke directly to Specioza, addressing her fears with two powerful perspectives:

They reminded her that as a mature woman and a wife, she possessed the God-given right to make her own spiritual choices. Her journey was hers alone to navigate.
They bridged the gap between her upbringing and Islam by explaining that converting wasn’t an abandonment of the past, but an evolution. They showed her how Islam follows the footsteps of all the Prophets and that by embracing Islam, she was simply returning to the worship of the One Almighty God whom all the Prophets served.
The weight of fear finally lifted. Moved by the realization that she was following a path of divine continuity rather than family betrayal, Specioza made her choice. With a clear heart, she recited the Shahadah, officially entering the fold of Islam and choosing the name Sophia.
The Duats knew that a beginning is only as strong as its foundation. To ensure Sophia felt supported in her new identity, they didn’t leave her side after the declaration.
Every day since her conversion, the team has visited Sophia’s home to provide hands-on mentorship. They are currently teaching her the essential pillars of a Muslim’s daily life including Wudhu (Ablution) and Salah (Prayer).
Today, Sophia’s home is no longer a place of religious division, but a classroom of faith. By replacing fear with knowledge, the iERA team has helped a family unite under the worship of the One True God, proving that with the right approach, the hardest hearts can find peace.
