In a powerful four-day visit that touched hearts and transformed lives, renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Abdur-Raheem McCarthy made a remarkable impact during his tour of Uganda. His mission? To spread the peaceful message of Islam and reignite the spirit of da’wah among Muslims.
From the bustling streets of Kabalagala to the serene villages beyond, Sheikh McCarthy engaged with communities in mosques, classrooms, and open gatherings—each stop resonating with his powerful message of peace, unity, and purpose.
At Kabalagala Mosque, the Sheikh connected with worshippers, before delivering a powerful Juma Khutbah at Munyonyo Mawanga Mosque under the theme “Islam Brings Peace and Harmony. In his sermon, he urged Muslims to actively participate in da’wah, reminding them that spreading peace begins within our own neighborhoods.
“The world needs peace, and Islam brings that peace,” he said. “Each of us has a role to play—starting with the hearts of those closest to us.”
Later, at Kiyindi Mosque, after Maghrib prayers, Sheikh McCarthy emphasized the simplicity and obligation of da’wah in a heartfelt talk titled ***“Da’wah is Easy.”*** He reminded the congregation that life is short, and our return to God is inevitable—so we must ask ourselves what deeds we’re taking back with us.

The scholar’s message didn’t end in the mosques. Sheikh McCarthy traveled to remote villages, where he visited New Muslim Support Classes, offering encouragement and Islamic teachings to new converts. He reminded attendees of the beauty of monotheism and the significance of remembering their divine origin.
In a truly inspiring moment, 56 individuals embraced Islam during his village visits—an emotional testament to the power of sincere da’wah and community outreach.
Throughout his journey, Sheikh Abdur-Raheem McCarthy’s presence was warmly welcomed by every community he visited. His teachings left a lasting mark on hearts and minds, igniting a renewed commitment to faith and unity across Uganda.
As he departed, his message echoed in every soul he touched:
Da’wah is not difficult. Peace begins with you. And the journey to God is the most important journey of all.
