Equipped with Truth: Duat Centre Trainees Become Ambassadors of Islam.

The Imam Centre was buzzing with a palpable mix of relief and anticipation. For the past three months, Duat trainees had immersed themselves in the study of Islam and the art of Da’wah (spreading the message of Islam). Today, they had just completed their final exams, marking the end of their formal training and the beginning of their practical mission.
The trainees, or Duats, are now poised to leave the familiar halls of the center and venture into rural villages. This isn’t just a trip; it’s a field demonstration where they’ll apply the knowledge and skills they’ve gained. They’ll spend one month in the field, not only putting their learning into practice but also discovering new, effective ways to share the message of Islam with diverse communities. This hands-on experience is a crucial part of the iERA Uganda initiative, which seeks to continue the prophetic mission of spreading Islam.

During a final address, Brother Akram, the iERA Uganda Education Officer, emphasized the importance of being effective in their work. He urged the Duats to apply everything they had learned at the center, stressing that their actions would be a testament to their training. He also commended them for their exceptional discipline throughout the program.
One of the trainees, Sulaiman, spoke for many when he shared his feelings of enlightenment. “We have been relieved from ignorance,” he said, explaining that the training had dispelled many misconceptions he and others had about Islam. He now feels equipped with the truth and is confident it will guide him when he returns to his community. Sulaiman jokingly added that they would all be “ambassadors of Islam” in their villages, a statement that was met with nods and smiles.
After their month in the field, the trainees will return for their graduation ceremony before heading back to their home areas to continue their mission as ambassadors of their faith. Their journey from students to ambassadors is a testament to their dedication and a hopeful step forward for the iERA Uganda’s mission.
